Hitting the Bull's-Eye

Rachna Virmani was never into any kind of sports during her school times, but when she got the opportunity to play darts during an inter club event, she decided to give it her all.  She went on to play the game with all her heart and it clicked and how ! Now she represents her club at various tournaments and have won various prestigious awards. She also received the Most Promising Female Award from CPC.  

Rachna wears many hats and how?

She is the President Elect of Inner Wheel Club for the year 2023-24.

She is also currently a committee head of Sports, Education, Social & Cultural Committees of Punjab Bradree.

She worked as Mortgage Analyst in New York City, which she says was a huge learning experience for her.

 She believes if you put your SOUL in what you do, then everything falls in its place.

 Serving in multitude of roles, she spoke to us about what really inspire her and how she wear so many hats all at a time!

 

Where do you find inspiration?

 I was always interested to anything creative which made me move forward, I always loved trying out new things in life, so when opportunities came ,I grabbed them . I was not much in sports during my school times, but when I got the opportunity to play darts during an inter club events, I went on to play and then it clicked. So, now I represent my club in various tournaments and also won numerous awards. Besides that I am active in organizing various events for my club.

What are you working on at the moment? 

 I am tied up with various things currently, I hold post of  Committee member in Sports, Education and Social & Cultural sub committee of Punjabee Bradree, I am the  President Elect (2023-24) of Inner Wheel Club of Calcutta Metro Maidan, and thus have huge social responsibility in near future. Hope to do innovative and creative projects for the society and touch countless lives.

 

What’s on your travel bucket list next? 

My Travel bucket list will never get empty, there are so many places I would love to explore, but I love to travel within India – we have it  all – the  mountains, seas, deserts, historical places,etc.

Your most memorable travel experience?

My most memorable travel experience was Iceland. It is a beautiful country and the most unique feature is the lava fields, glaciers besides amazing waterfalls. I would love to go back to see the northern lights, because couldn’t experience the last time.

 

When travelling, how important is it to dress comfortably? 

 Yes, it is very important to dress comfortably and especially to carry light clothing to avoid excess baggage.

What are you currently reading? 

 I am a member of a book club, and currently reading the book of the month which is “Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow” by Gabrielle Zevin.

Describe your perfect day off when you are not working? 

I love spending time in the nature and just sit and watch the sky, the trees, the birds…That is my way of meditating…

 

What is your thought on sustainable fashion ?

 Fashion Industry is considered one of the significant contributor to environmental damage. But it is good that many are thinking about sustainable fashion which will help in reducing carbon footprints. It is a healthier option for people and our planet earth. Once you start wearing  clothes made from natural fibres you will never want to wear synthetic ever!
